Wang Hualin, born in October 1968, graduated with a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in chemical machinery from Sichuan University. He obtained his doctorate in chemical process machinery from East China University of Science and Technology and has conducted academic visits to the University of Nottingham in the UK and the University of California, Berkeley in the US. He is a recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, the leader of the Pollutant Emission Reduction and Resource Utilization innovation team of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the leader of the 111 Innovation Introduction Base for Pollutant Emission Reduction and Resource Utilization. He was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2023.

In the past three decades, he has discovered the phenomenon of high-speed self-rotation of particles in a three-dimensional rotating turbulent field. He has presided over the development of process flows and equipment prototypes with self-rotation at the core, achieving a breakthrough in the application of particle self-rotation from discovery to engineering. This technology serves the national strategic high-end industry of methanol-to-olefins, the key project of national fuel quality upgrading, and the environmental protection work in the national energy security strategy of offshore oil and gas development.
