Resume

Liu Changsheng, professor of East China University of Science and Technology and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is a recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, a national-level high-level talent, and the academic leader of the National Natural Science Foundation of China Innovation Research Group. He is the chief scientist of the National Major Scientific Research Program and was selected as a national-level candidate of the New Century Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talents Project. He was the former vice president of East China University of Science and Technology.

He currently serves as the director of the Key Laboratory of Preparation and Application of Ultrafine Materials of the Ministry of Education and the director of the Engineering Research Center for Medical Biomaterials of the Ministry of Education. He is a member of the 8th Standing Committee of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a member of the Overall Expert Group of the National Nano Science and Technology Special Project, a member of the 8th Discipline Review Group of Materials Science and Engineering of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, a member of the 8th Expert Advisory Committee of the Department of Life Sciences of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a member of the Department of Materials Science of the Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Education, president of the China Biomaterials Society, and executive director of the China Biomedical Engineering Society. He holds other positions such as president of the Shanghai Association of Science and Technology Stars.

He has long been engaged in biomaterial research and internationally proposed the new concept of material biology for the first time. He has developed various active bone repair materials and new technologies for growth factor preparation and material activation. He was the first in the country to develop self-setting calcium phosphate artificial bone and its composite active bone repair body, obtaining the first registration certificate for such products from the National Medical Products Administration. The materials he developed have been cumulatively used in more than 400,000 cases in orthopedics, spinal surgery, stomatology, neurosurgery, and other fields in over 700 hospitals nationwide, including Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Peking University People's Hospital, and Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital. The longest clinical follow-up of 13 years has proven their satisfactory therapeutic effects, changing the long-standing bone defect treatment mode of cutting the flesh to cover the sore. He has applied for more than 70 invention patents, of which 50 have been granted (including 4 in the United States), and he has published 5 Chinese and English monographs (textbooks) and over 290 SCI papers, including many important articles published in authoritative journals in the field of biomaterials such as Biomaterials, Chemical Reviews, Science Advances, Advanced Materials, and others. He has given 44 invited or keynote speeches at international conferences. He has successively won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (both ranked first), the Ho Leung Ho Lee Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation, the Bioactive Materials Lifetime Achievement Award, the Global Biomaterials Leadership Award, the Shanghai Young Outstanding Contribution Award, and other honors such as the National Outstanding Professional and Technical Personnel, the National Outstanding Science and Technology Worker, Fellow of the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering, and Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering.
