Resume

Prof. He TIAN was born in 1962. He is a member of the Chinese Academy of Science and a Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the advancement of science in developing countries. Prof. Tian serves now as Director of the Academic Committee of East China University of Science & Technology (ECUST), Director of Feringa Nobel Prize Scientist Joint Research Center (Chinese Side), Director of Key Laboratory for Advanced Materials of Ministry of Education of China, Chief Scientist of Frontiers Science Center for Materiobiology and Dynamic Chemistry of Ministry of Education of China. He received his B.S. degree in organic chemistry from Nanjing University of Science & Technology (Nanjing, China) in 1982. After receiving his M.S. degree in Physics from ECUST in 1986, he studied under the direction of Professor Zhen-Hua ZHU at the Institute of Fine Chemicals late at ECUST, where he received his Ph. D. in 1989. From 1991 to 1993, Dr. Tian worked with Prof. Dr. Karl H. Drexhage (Siegen University/ Germany) on organic laser dyes and in 2000 with Prof. Dr. Klaus Müllen (MPIP/Mainz/Germany) on organic photochromic copolymer, both supported by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Prof. Tian became a full professor and director of the Institute of Fine Chemicals at ECUST in 1994. In 1999, he was appointed Cheung Kong Distinguished Professor by the Education Ministry of China. He was selected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Science in 2011 and Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 2013. Prof. Tian’s current research interests mainly focus on the syntheses of novel functional organic dyes and polymers as well as development of interdisciplinary materials science that determines the electronic and optical properties of materials. He has been awarded the second-class prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award 2000, the second-class prize of the State Natural Science 2007, National May Day Labor Medal 2011, China-France Chemistry Lectureship Award 2016, Shanghai Education Meritorious Award Nomination 2018, Shanghai Science and Technology Meritorious Award 2019, National Advanced Workers 2020.Prof. Tian is known as “Highly Cited Researchers” (Web of Science) in the area of chemistry during 2014–2020. Now he serves as Vice President of Chinese Chemical Society, Associate Editors of ACS App. Mater. Interfaces and Sci. China Chem. as well as editor broad members of many other international academic journals.
